Career Lessons From Oprah Winfrey

Every major set back or stumble I have suffered during my career has taught me a valuable lesson

Where I initialy chose to ignore the lesson – the stumble often turned into a fall until I learned the lesson. Whether it be a lesson about people, business, life – or indeed a lesson about me.

A point summed up perfectly by Oprah in this 4 minute clip from her recent address to the 2008 graduates at Stanford University. Advice which applies in equal measure to those at the beginning of their careers as it does to more experienced individuals like you and me.

Have you a particular career challenge at the moment?

What’s the lesson you need to learn….?

At the end of Oprah’s comments I wanted to say “Amen”!

The speech demonstrates why Oprah is the driving force in the personal development industry. Outside of mess in the financial industry there is a whole generation of boomers like myself who are questioning our current and future career choices.

That’s one of the primary reasons I got started in my own personal development business. I saw that I could benefit from it and see there are countless others would can as well.

    thanks Jim,

I’d go far as to say 80% of people I come across question career choices

They mean to do something about it, but tend to over think things as they (falsy) believe they need some grand plan.

But in reality they need to do what ‘feels’ right, as Oprah says in this clip, and just take the next step.

Look out for the article in my newsletter this coming week – it’s on this very point.
